Faith Comes By Hearing

Last year at tC, we decided to venture into the unknown (as we do) and start podcasting for different sectors, producing four different podcasts in the process. Our flagship podcast proved to be The Tony George Podcast, which is an Arabic spoken podcast that discusses everything from regulating emotions, promoting better lifestyles, to life coaching and the occasional casual chit chat. We poured our heart and soul into it until it became somewhat popular considering the still developing podcast scene in Egypt and as of the time of writing, we have amassed 24 thousand listens, which is not groundbreaking but is also not something to scoff at. Although we do care about numbers here at tC to some extent, we value people and their individual stories much more considerably. When we heard some of those, we felt fulfilled and encouraged to keep going and to keep pushing and growing the podcast sector.

A member of the podcast marketing team sent a message to the Whatsapp groups that people subscribe to so they can keep up with everything at tC, and he received three different encouraging messages from three different precious people.

  1. A Lifeline to the hopeless & Suicidal

A girl who explained to our team member that she had been suicidal, and that listening to the podcast gave her some hope that maybe starting a relationship with God might bring fulfillment to her life, and she started exploring how she could do that by signing up for different programs at tC.

2. A New Lens For The Critical & Skeptical

A man who had distanced himself from the church on account of his feeling that everyone serving there is involved in a charade of sorts and that the word of God has been lost in translation. He felt no one was being real and that they were preaching from the top where they feel righteous and divine, to people at the bottom who need their help and their imagined wise words for salvation. Listening to the podcast, he felt that it was a massive change of pace. He listened to Tony pour his heart out, talk about his shortcomings and how God is his only salvation from all of that. For once, he felt that someone was being real when talking about Jesus.

3. An Embrace To The Struggling & Bewildered.

The third message we received was from a man who shared that he had a differing sexual orientation to what is considered the norm here in Egypt and that he found it difficult to be accepted in a place of worship, which was a huge wish of his. He explained that he is always careful of the places he goes in the fear of being ostracized or harassed, which is why he followed tC closely online before making the commitment to join us physically on ground. He watched knisa.online and also listened to the podcast, which he explains is what edged him to seek support and solace from our staff at tC.
